Facts: Competition
Did you know that when two of the largest home improvement companies in the nation opened, they started pricing carpet in square feet because it looks and sounds cheaper? It's not, it's misleading, people are thinking in the back of their mind that there are 3 feet in a yard, so they take the square feet price times three, when there is actually nine square feet in a yard. You need to mulitply square feet price by nine. You ask the salesperson a question about the product and they do what you would do, they look at the back of the sample. Here at Carpetime, our professionally trained staff will recommend and show the best floor to fit your needs. Our quality is better, our prices are better for the quality you get. Plus we will have it in your house within two weeks, not three to five! Bottomline is, you get more for your dollar.

Big Box stores say "liquidator" or "outlet" and that makes you think its less because they have more on hand. When you compare our prices completely installed with padding, you'll see out prices are as good or better! They sell you on the carpet and pad, then they give you a sheet of paper with the installers name and phone number on it, leaving it up to you to set the appointment for measurement and install date, depending on who can do it and when. Then if you have a problem with the installation, you have to try and contact the installer. Good luck, they got paid and they are done!

Often times people go off the wear warranty because they think of the carpet wearing out. The truth is wear warranty is a bogus warranty that backs the mill not the customer. If you read the wear warranty closer, it states that within ten years if you lose more than 10% of fiber your covered. You will never lose 1% of fiber, it's not going to disappear. It may lay down and look like it is wearing out, but that may be matting and crushing. Better carpets carry a warranty for that.

Question:
How often should I clean my carpet and how?
Answer:
It is recommended to clean your carpet every year to year and a half, depending on foot traffic.

Professional steam cleaning is the most effective and best way to clean your carpet, because when carpet is made it is cut, twisted and heat set. (Which locks in the twist) The heat from the steam brings back memory to the carpet and gives it that new look all over again.

Question:
What are the characteristics of a good long-lasting carpet?
Answer:
Twist- The twist is the most important because the tighter the twist, the less chance of matting and crushing. You get matting and crushing when twists become untwisted. Think of it like a tightly wound spring. The tighter it is wound, the quicker it snaps back, the looser it's wound, the longer it takes.

Pad and Density- There are different pads for berber loop, cut pile carpets. For berber loops, a 3/8" in height and a minimum of 6lb. density pad is recommended for longevity and durability of your carpet. Anything higher in height will void all no mat/crush warranties as well as installation warranties.

For cut pile carpets a 7/16" in height and a minimum of 6lb density is recommended for longevity and durability, again anything higher will void no mat/crush warranties.

As for density, the tighter the fibers are packed together the less movement of each individual fiber. Too high of a density is, not always the best, because it weighs the carpet down more and when swept, it doesn't always seperate each individual fiber.
